As I entered the lounge area, I noticed one of our guests enjoying a drink by the fireplace. Engaging in conversation, we discovered a shared hometown: Wickliffe, Ohio. It's remarkable how a common origin can spark a flood of memories and anecdotes, and soon we found ourselves reminiscing about familiar places and faces.

As our conversation meandered, we stumbled upon a particular family who lived on Ridge Rd., just across from my childhood home. Little did I know, this seemingly ordinary exchange would take an unexpected turn.

The guest recounted a vivid memory from decades past—a moment etched in both our memories. He confessed to being involved in an unfortunate incident where he accidentally hit a dog on Ridge Rd. My heart skipped a beat as I realized the significance of his revelation.

In a serendipitous twist, I decided to call my sister and inquire about a similar event involving our family dog, Daisy, many years ago. As my sister recounted the details, our guest echoed her words, pinpointing the year to be 1976. It was a surreal moment of realization.

In that instant, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. Our guest, now a stranger no more, was the individual who had encountered Daisy all those years ago. Witnessing the Solar Eclipse at the Inn of Chagrin

At the Inn of Chagrin, we had the privilege of being part of an extraordinary event that brought people from all over the country to our little town of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. It all began when we realized the magnitude of the solar eclipse scheduled for April 8, 2024.

In March 2023, the excitement started building as reservations poured in from eager travelers wanting to witness the eclipse from our charming town. As the date approached, we prepared special treats for our guests, including "Moonmosa" breakfasts, Eclipse gum, and personalized glasses in each room.

On the day of the eclipse, I found myself standing in Riverside Park, surrounded by people from all walks of life, all gathered to witness this awe-inspiring phenomenon. The sight of the moon passing in front of the sun took my breath away, and I knew then why so many had chosen to come here.

I had the chance to chat with some of our guests about why they had chosen Chagrin Falls and the Inn of Chagrin for this special occasion. The Delaneys traveled all the way from Irvine, California, to experience it with their son, making plans to return multiple times. Peter, meanwhile, enjoyed the eclipse while fishing for steelhead, appreciating Chagrin Falls' small-town charm and proximity to outdoor activities.

Each guest had their own reason for visiting, but we all shared in the same incredible moment. It reminded me of the magic that can happen when people come together to witness something truly extraordinary. We feel blessed that so many chose to share this experience with us at the Inn of Chagrin.
